Metaverse, helping brands build for the future

The Metaverse is probably a little older than you think, certainly the word has become all the rage since the renaming of Facebook to Meta, but that aside the Metaverse principle and reality has existed for much longer. In fact, it’s existed as a concept since 1992, when sci-fi writer Neal Stephenson coined the term ‘metaverse’ to describe a 3D virtual space. 

The Metaverse is a network of 3D virtual worlds that focus on social connection and new entertainment experiences that immerse users in alternative realities with endless experiences and applications. 

The next decade will see the emergence of new waves of interactive content, creating industries and employment within endless virtual worlds. It will allow for better communication, provide the most compelling entertainment, allow for greater learning and dissemination of knowledge.

It may be hard to believe but the Metaverse is here to stay, it’s growing at an aggressive pace and will reach into each corner of our future lives. 

Virtual realities and the Metaverse itself are not new but it is only now that technology is getting closer to being ready for the masses. With more companies developing hardware the near future offering will make entering the virtual world a real reality.
